EQUITY ROADMAP

Equity Statement

  • California Child Support Services believes equity is an essential component of administering a  program that delivers quality services to fulfill a vision of all parents engaged in supporting their children.

Equity Commitments

  • Our statement challenges us to make commitments that require us to look in the mirror and intentionally identify any parts of our practices and policies that create inequities.

Priority One: Build Workforce Capacity

  • Establish awareness and transform mindsets, behaviors, and practices to sustain  inclusive work environments that focus on equitable policies, so all employees and customers can thrive.

Priority Two: Disaggregate Data

  • Disaggregate employee and customer metrics and create dashboards and practice indicators to highlight outcomes and impacts of key program functions on customers across demographics.

Priority Three: Impact Assessment

  • Systematically examine how marginalized groups will be affected by proposed actions or decisions to minimize unanticipated adverse consequences.

Priority Four: Equity Audit

  • Review California Child Support Services policies and practices to identify inequitable outcomes, to help employees gain the knowledge and understanding to advance practices more inclusive of all communities within the organization.

Priority Five: VOICE

  • This council will embody the diversity of the customers served by California Child Support Services, foster safe and fair work environments, promote data-informed decision-making and educate child support staff on the principles that ensure equity for all Californians.

Priority Six: Divisional Action Plans

  • Each division and office will develop an action plan, normalizing, organizing, and operationalizing practices that include consideration of impacts on communities. These plans will contribute to staff and customer well-being and promote a culture of equity.

Priority Seven: Customer Advisory Body

  • Amplifies the voices of marginalized communities by reviewing and providing recommendations for practices, projects, and policies, particularly those affecting communities of color, low-income communities, and other vulnerable populations.

Priority Eight: Engage Marginalized Communities

  • Use technology to create and sustain customer inclusion in programmatic decision making. Develop communication strategies to reach diverse audiences statewide to include their voices.
