DIVERSITY, EQUITY, AND INCLUSION ROADMAP
Priority One: Workforce Capacity Building
- Assemble an internal equity advisory council made up of diverse employees/Local Child Support Agencies to serve as Diversity, Equity, Inclusion champions within their respective divisions
- Design a training roadmap and training access for Child Support Services and Local Child Support Agencies to build Diversity, Equity, Inclusion organizational capacity
- Improve Child Support Services’ employee representation to reflect California and customer demographics. This means equitable representation at every level of the organization
- Transgender Rights in the Workplace: Design proactive strategies to better support transgender and gender non-conforming employees
- Review duty statements/position descriptions/job postings with an equity lens
- Design and implement employee resource groups
- Develop designated meetings for Local Child Support Agency employees working to advance equity to build statewide child support program cross collaboration
Priority Two: Disaggregate Employee and Customer Data
- Develop a Child Support Services disaggregated data collection and analysis standard to monitor impact of policies and practices across demographics
- Develop a Diversity, Equity, Inclusion dashboard that highlights employee demographics and outcomes and impacts of key programmatic functions on customers across demographics
- Design equity specific practice indicators
Priority Three: Disadvantaged Community/Customer Engagement
- Develop a customer equity advisory body to understand the child support program from a parent’s perspective and use this understanding to better inform programmatic and policy decisions
- Identify a technological solution for better diverse customer inclusion in programmatic decision making
- Develop a communication strategy that includes many vehicles to reach diverse audiences
- Partner with Local Child Support Agencies to hold customer listening sessions
Priority Four: Programmatic and Policy-Equity by Design
- Implement Equity Impact Statement and Assessment requirements for all Child Support Services’ projects, memos, demands, and initiatives
- Design an equity lens toolkit to use as a foundational tool to apply to programmatic decisions
- Review existing policies and procedures with an equity lens to identify existing languages that are barriers to DEI, as well as any harmful language
- Develop Diversity, Equity, Inclusion Moments toolkit for meetings, similar to OSHA (“Take 2”): “Think, Ask, Know, Execute” (TAKE).
- Facilitators take a few minutes in staff meetings to review a Diversity, Equity, Inclusion learning moment
- Design a best practice toolkit for outreach to historically marginalized and disadvantaged communities
- Conduct a department wide equity audit and develop strategies based on results
