DCSS Equity Statement

DCSS believes equity is an essential component of administering a child support program that ensures quality services that embrace a vision of all parents engaged in supporting their children.

DCSS Equity Commitments

Our statement challenges us to make commitments. These commitments require us to look in the mirror and intentionally identify any parts of our practices and policies that create inequities.

Build Workforce Capacity

Establish awareness and transform mindsets, behaviors, policies, and practices to create and sustain diverse and inclusive work environments that focus on equitable strategies, so all employees and customers can thrive.

Disaggregate Data

Increase capacity to disaggregate employee and customer metrics. Create DEI dashboards and equity specific practice indicators, to highlight outcomes and impacts of key program functions on customers across demographics.

Equity Impact Assessment

Systematically examine how marginalized groups will be affected by a proposed action or decision to minimize unanticipated adverse consequences

Equity Audit

Carter Development Group (CDG) evaluates areas in DCSS policy and practice that are barriers to advancing DEI. CDG helps employees gain the knowledge and understanding to advance DEI within the organization.

VOICE

This council will embody the diversity of the communities DCSS serves, foster psychologically safe work environments, promote data-informed decision-making and educate DCSS on racial equity and the intersectionality of identities.

Divisional Action Plans

Each division and office will develop an action plan, focusing on normalizing, organizing, and operationalizing DEI practices. These plans will contribute to DCSS’ DEI goal and promote a culture of equity.

Customer Equity Advisory Body

Amplifies the voices of marginalized communities by reviewing and providing recommendations for DCSS strategies, projects, and policies, particularly those affecting communities of color, low-income communities, and other vulnerable populations.
